A lot of drivers will have regular problems with their car. Normally, this is because they don’t care for it as they should. Bearing that in mind, here’s a guide to caring for your car:

Regular Cleaning

I’d say that the majority of people won’t clean their car regularly. They’ll probably wash it once every couple of months or so. This is alright, but you should clean it more often. Many car owners think that cleaning your car will just make it look nice. But, if your car is dirty, bad things can happen to it. A filthy car is at risk of getting rust and then certain parts can be damaged. Brake pads could rust over, or your wheel fittings could rust. These things are very likely to happen during winter when the weather gets wetter and colder. So, make sure you don’t forget to clean your car regularly. Seriously, it doesn’t take much effort to go to a car wash once every two weeks or so!

Look After Your Tyres

The tyres on your car are very important and must be looked after. By law, you need to have them fully inflated whenever you drive. You can’t be driving around with flat tyres; it’s not safe for you or your car. Tyre fitting is also vital, you must have the correct tyres for your car. Get ones that are too big/too small, and you could be in trouble. As a general rule, everyone should carry around a spare tyre in their car. Admittedly, this is hard for people that drive small cars, seeing as there’s no room to put it. But, if possible, get a spare tyre on board in case you have a puncture while driving. If you want to treat your car right, you should also make sure you have quality tyres. Don’t go for a cheap brand that no one’s ever heard of. Stick to the ones that you can trust.

Drive Sensibly

One of the worst things you can do is driving your car like a maniac. Don’t be stupid behind the wheel, be sensible. Know what your car can handle and don’t push the limits. Life isn’t an F1 race; you have no need to try and go speeding around in your car. Stop doing wheel spins at every traffic light, and stop revving your engine unnecessarily. Things like this can wear down your tyres and cause engine problems too. Every time you rev your engine, you’re just wasting petrol. You’re throwing money down the drain, well done! Also, I’d say be careful with your gearbox. Make sure you’re changing gears correctly and you’re not forcing it too much. Some people try and show off and go from first straight to third. This is awful for your gearbox and can lead to problems. To make sure your car lasts as long as possible you have to drive sensibly.

With this guide, you should know everything about caring for your car. So, give your vehicle some TLC and you can be sure it will last much longer.
